You can search for contacts using different criteria, all of which are displayed by in the search panel.
You can select multiple criteria options within and across the different search functions. For example, you can search for someone who works as a Lawyer in the USA.
You can refine your search by choosing the category that best matches the support you need such as Interview preparation.
With the ‘Functions’ search, you can identify people by the positions they hold within a particular sector. For example, you might search for someone in Product Development within the Retail sector.
Once you have defined your criteria, click Search Mentors to see mentors in our database who align with your choices. Make sure you are logged in to view the results. The list is sorted so that mentors matching all your criteria appear first, followed by those who match only some aspects—such as the right profession but in a different location.
Each mentor in your match list shows their name, location, latest employer, and the areas they can assist with.
When you have selected a mentor, click Message to reach out. In the dialogue box, choose the area of help you need, add a subject line, and type your message. Your personal contact information is not required—the mentor will be notified via email, and you will receive an alert once they reply.
Pupils should only contact potential mentors and mentors through Friends of Freemen’s and should not share personal details.
If no exact matches appear, revisit the search to refine your criteria. You are also welcome to contact us at friends@freemens.org, and we will do our best to help.
Work experience placements
If and when a work experience placement is agreed, current pupils should log the placement on the Placements tool through Unifrog to set it up.
